Prayer Services
Touro Synagogue, the home of Congregation Jeshuat Israel holds religious services and conducts lifecycle events including Bar/Bat Mitzvot and weddings and sponsors educational, social and cultural programs. All services and religious activities are under the direction of Rabbi Dr. Marc Mandel.
Services are held the year around on Friday nights and Saturday mornings and on all Jewish holidays. Services are orthodox using the Nusach Sephard prayerbook. There is separate seating for men and for women during services.
We request visitors to dress appropriately. On Shabbat and Jewish holidays, men must wear long pants, however ties and jackets are not required. Women may wear slacks. For weekdays services casual attire, including shorts, is permitted. No sleeveless or torn clothing is permitted for services at any time. Shawls are available at the ladies entrance. We reserve the right to determine appropriate attire to enter the synagogue for services.
Please turn of all phones before entering the synagogue. The use of electronic devices is not permitted on on synagogues grounds on Shabbat or Jewish holidays. No photographs may be taken in the synagogue.
As a safety/security precaution, all men, women, and children entering the synagogue grounds will be electronically scanned. No bags, backpacks, boxes or packages are permitted on synagogue grounds.
Touro Synagogue does not hold regular weekday services during the winter season. Weekday shacharit and minchah-maariv services are held in the summer during July and August. For further information about minyanim, please contact Rabbi Mandel at 401-847-4794 ext. 203 or email RabbiMandel@tourosynagogue.org.
