Touro Synagogue Foundation
Mission
The Touro Synagogue Foundation is a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit, nonsectarian organization, dedicated to maintaining and preserving Touro Synagogue, the colonial Jewish cemetery, Patriots Park, and to promoting and teaching religious diversity, colonial Jewish history and the history of Touro Synagogue.
Touro Synagogue is a National Historic Site. The Touro Synagogue Foundation operates public programs in partnership with the National Park Service, the National Trust for Historic Preservation and is a project of Save America's Treasures.
Annual Meeting
The Annual Meeting of the Touro Synagogue Foundation will be held on August 18, 2013 at 10:30 AM at the Levi Gale House, 85 Touro Street, Newport, RI. Materials for the meeting will be available for download prior to the meeting.
George Washington Letter Reading
A national landmark and beacon of religious freedom for all Americans, Touro Synagogue invites you to the annual reading of George Washington's historic letter "To the Hebrew Congregation at Newport" on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at 1:00 pm.
The letter, which honors our precious freedoms, continues to be lauded and commemorated as possibly having the greatest impact on America and American Jewry. Reservations are required and seating is limited.
